FIGURE STUDY - UKULELE - DAVID

I have know David (61) since the two of us were posted to the embassy in Washington DC in 1985. We have always stayed in touch after we were posted out and retired with David making Mexico his home for the past 20 years. A year ago on my birthday he sent me a photo of himself naked with a ukulele on a beach. I figured if he was brave enough to do that he would more than likely pose for my series. Again a big thank you to my friend and photographer, Jessica Rosita for assisting me with this shoot. His ukulele was provided by his spouse Suz.

History - according to Wikipedia the ukulele was developed in the 1880s by the Portuguese. It was later introduced to the Hawaiian islands by Portuguese immigrants. One of the most cherished ukulele songs in Hawaii is Lili’uokalani composed “Aloha Oe”

Footnote: It is with great sadness that I found out the my good friend of 39 years died of a heart attack August 29, 2024 in Mexico. He was 61. RIP my friend.
